Safety Guidelines:
These guidelines must be strictly adhered to ensure the safety of all jumpers in Northern Virginia Party Rentals units. Plan to provide responsible supervision at all times when the MoonBounce is in use, even if it is only one jumper. We ask that you plan in advance to have a volunteer (or rotating volunteers) available to supervise the children. Historically, most accidents reported from MoonBounce play have been attributable to the two basic causes:
Exceeding the maximum capacity of jumpers by age group
combining unmatched players of differing age groups. Jumpers should be sorted by size. Only jumpers of the same size should be allowed in the moonbounce at the same time.
In addition to these two critical points, ensure that each supervisor is briefed on the below listed guidelines prior to assuming responsibility for the unit.
The unit should not be used if wind exceeds 15 mph or in rain or lightning conditions.
All jumpers must remove their shoes.
Jumpers must remove loose or sharp objects including glasses and dangling jewelry.
Glasses should be removed.
Belts should be removed. (buckles could tear the vinyl)
No food, drinks, pets, silly string, or gum should be allowed on or near the MoonBounce.
No open flame, flammables or smoking within 50 feet of the MoonBounce.
Absolutely no silly string or fireworks should be in the vicinity of the MoonBounce.
Ensure that there are no animal feces in the setup area.
Keep children and guests away from blowers, electrical outlets, extension cords, and other equipment associated with the MoonBounce rental.
The Supervisor should assist the jumpers when they enter and exit the MoonBounce.
The Supervisor should position himself/herself in close proximity to the entrance of the MoonBounce.
While the MoonBounce is in operation, the operator should watch the jumpers at all times. No roughhousing or horseplay should be tolerated. No climbing on the nets is allowed. Anyone who does not obey the rules after being warned should be asked to exit the MoonBounce.
The operator must strictly enforce the rules posted on the warning sign.
The operator must remain in control of the MoonBounce at all times.
The rated capacity should never be exceeded. The capacity of the MoonBounce is as follows:
2-4 years of Age: Up to 36 inches tall: Up to 75 Lbs: 7-9 Jumpers
(NOTE: Children under the age of 4 require extra supervision.)
5-8 years of Age: Up to 48 inches tall: Up to 100 Lbs: 6-8 Jumpers
9-12 years of Age: Up to 52 inches tall: Up to 150 Lbs: 4-6 Jumpers
13-17 years of Age: Up to 64 inches tall: Up to 200 Lbs 3-5 Jumpers
18 years of age and up: Up to 72 inches tall: Up to 250 Lbs: 1-2 Jumpers
Emergency Procedures:
Emergencies can arise for various reasons. The following are a few examples of emergencies and how they can be handled. This is strictly a guide; please use common sense when an emergency occurs.
Weather:
Bad weather can arrive in the form of rain, lightning or strong wind. In each case you want to evacuate the MoonBounce as quickly and safely as possible. It is important to remember that the bounce blower is powered by electricity and that electricity and water don’t mix well. If rain is encountered, ask everyone to quickly and calmly exit the bounce. Once it is emptied, unplug the blower and allow the unit to deflate. Take the blower indoors, out of the weather for protection from the elements. Never use the unit in heavy rains or high winds. Once the weather has passed, plug the blower back in, allow the unit to inflate and have an adult dry the interior with a towel. This is very important, as the vinyl is very slippery when wet. Once dry, the bounce can be utilized again.
Remain Calm! If you panic your jumpers may also panic. Stay calm and stay focused on your job, which is to help your jumpers exit the MoonBounce quickly, but in an orderly fashion.
After everyone has exited the MoonBounce, deflate the MoonBounce by turning off the blowers or fans.
MoonBounces should be folded over once so that the interior is protected from the weather.
Take the blower indoors, to protect it from the rain and water.
Loss of Electrical Power:
When a loss of power occurs the MoonBounce will slowly start to deflate.
Remain Calm! You will have ample time to help your patrons quickly and safely exit the MoonBounce. This situation tends to cause panic unless the operator stays calm and relaxed. Talk calmly to those inside the unit telling them not to panic while you’re helping them walk out.
Check to see if the blowers have come unplugged or the cords are unplugged from the outlet. If so, plug them back in and the MoonBounce will re-inflate.
MoonBounce blowers must be plugged into a circuit. If you experience electrical problems associated with inflation of the MoonBounce, check your circuit breakers and make sure that there is no other load on the circuit.
Damage:
If the MoonBounce becomes damaged while in your operation, take the following steps.
If the MoonBounce is ripped or otherwise begins to lose air, assist all jumpers from the MoonBounce and deflate it.
Write down what happened, when, and any other details you observed and turn this report in to the Responsible Party.
Contact Northern Virginia Party Rentals immediately at 703-717-8737. Do not attempt to continue to operate the MoonBounce.
